Finding Your Place in Nantes
The psychological side of expat life
NAVIGATING LIFE AS AN EXPAT
Living in France can be wonderful — and complicated. Even when moving here was something we genuinely wanted, adapting to a new culture, language, way of working and way of relating can bring unexpected feelings of loneliness, frustration, homesickness or disillusionment.
This small, informal group is an opportunity to step back and talk about the less-discussed psychological side of expat life — with other people who are living it too.
We'll explore some of the common challenges of adapting to life in Nantes, share experiences, and look at ways of navigating them with greater understanding and self-compassion.
We'll touch on
-
Homesickness and melancholy
-
Frustration and disillusionment
-
Loneliness and finding connection
-
Relationships with French partners and families
-
Work and professional life
-
Cultural misunderstandings
