What is happening to me?! (Or - how to be a (mostly) Sane Expat)
An Adjustment Support Group in Nantes (In-Person)
NAVIGATING LIFE AS AN EXPAT
We come here dreaming. Maybe we had the chance to visit before deciding to stay. But no matter what you have read or heard, it is very hard to be prepared for the mental health impact of the decision to live here permanently and full-time.
Or possibly you are only here for a year or two, but even that is beginning to feel daunting and long…
Either way, this group will give you support and guidance as you find your own personal path to doing “expatriatism” here in Nantes.
We Will Cover
1. Melancholy And Home-sickness - What It Means, And How To Soothe It.
2. Anger/Frustration/Disillusion
3. Loneliness
4. Relationships With French Partners Or Families
5. Work Issues
6. Cultural Misunderstandings
These are the main themes for any expat, and they are all interconnected.
The questions they pose require an identity shift that can feel painful and alienating.
This is where the real work of expatriatism lies, and where it becomes more personal.

My hope is that you will be able to better navigate your expat process and find support from others living through the same issues.
The sessions will be limited to six people. The cost will be 25€/session, either prepaid or paid in cash on-site. All participants will need to prepay the following session if they plan to come. To ensure the cohesiveness of the group, I would prefer that you commit to three initial sessions.
We will begin Saturday, September 26th, from 10am to 11:30am.
